Técnica (Technique)
Regular training in flamenco technique, including arms, floreo, body, turning, footwork, compás, palmas and contratiempo. Open to all levels, students are encouraged to enrol in technique class as well as choreography class for comprehensive training and study. Flamenco shoes are mandatory. Women should wear full circle skirts, while men should wear stretchy slacks suitable for dancing.
Bulería Por Fiesta
Por fiesta is improvisational song and dance between dancers, singers and musicians popular during parties and often seen at the end of a performances. It is a level of flamenco that requires solid flamenco skills including listening to flamenco music, understanding cante and structure, steady and effective palmas, and jaleo. As all dancers need to know how to listen, know cante structure, play palmas and jaleo, students will experience all these elements first hand, practice all and learn to put together a short dance for themselves suitable for por fiesta. Both buleria and tango por fiesta will be examined. This class is suitable for students who have a good grasp of the buleria compás. Designed primarily for flamenco dancers, this course is suitable for flamenco singers and guitarists who want to learn a few steps, cante, palmas and jaleo. Please note this is not a choreography or technique class. While new steps might be shared, dancers should have a basic repertoire of flamenco steps before taking this course. Flamenco shoes are recommended. Flamenco wear is optional.
