COURSE DESCRIPTION
ON CAMERA ACTING
What is the difference between acting on stage and on camera? This course focuses on the artistic and technical issues when acting for the camera, and is suitable for adult actors with some acting experience. Participants work with a camera in every class and learn to adjust their acting between the different media. If you have been told by tv/film directors that your acting is too "theatrical" but don't know how to adjust, or don't know what the difference is, then this course is for you. If you are ready for professional acting work, or don't know why are you not landing the jobs you're auditioning, this course is for you. |
DIRECTING ACTORS
How do you get actors to do what you want them to do? Why can't actors deliver what you want? How do you rehearse actors before shooting? What is the proper language to use for actors? How do you work with inexperienced actors and get the results you want? If you are a first-time director or a director who has been frustrated with not obtaining the results your want from actors, this course is for you. This course deals with the director-actor relationship, which is a special one that should be explored with sincerity and integrity. In addition, understanding the actor's psyche, process and craft in order to gain trust is crucial for a smooth working relationship. Students will receive first-hand practical experience in working with actors during this course so they may hone their directing skills in a safe and controlled environment.
SONG INTERPRETATION
In musical theatre or solo performances, one of the hardest things to do is to interpret a solo song. When you are alone on stage with no one to work with, just standing still and singing is not enough. Even opera singers singing arias and pop artists singing alone with a microphone need to find a way to reach their audience. With nothing or no one to act/react with, what are you supposed to do? How do you engage the audience and tell the story? What IS the story you are trying to tell? This course is suitable for solo singers (any genre) or musical theatre performers who want to know how to work with a song (solo or ensemble song) and still feel natural, truthful and genuine. Highly recommended for all actors working in musicals. Suitable for solo or ensemble singers. Students should prepare a solo song for class, including lyrics and MMO.
