MCCC stands for Margaret Cheung Creativity Centre. It is dedicated to the exploration of ‘self’ through creative activities by providing a space for learning, reflection, meditation, socialization and strengthening, providing leisure programs for adults, in particular, age 45 and above. MCCC is where you can find fun, peace, playfulness, friendship, socialization and engagement with the community. The activities we wish to provide target body, mind and spirit, and are only limited by the space that MCCC provides. This is a holistic approach that provides a space that participants can come to relax, explore, reflect, learn, socialize and engage with their community. Conveniently located in Wanchai and opening in early 2019, we aim to provide programs including (but not limited to) dance, music, fitness, health, technology, crafts, drama, and other interest areas.

On a higher level, MCCC aims to release the mind to allow for more creativity. Creativity is a sought-after resource that can be developed through the use of our body, mind and spirit. We believe that if you work on creativity, technique will come. Conversely, if you only work on technique, creativity will never come. Ken Robinson says, “You can’t be a creative thinker if you’re not stimulating your mind, just as you can’t be an Olympic athlete if you don’t train regularly.” MCCC is the place to provide that kind of stimulation of the mind as well as awareness building in the body and spirit - a platform for self discovery and exploration. Creativity begins with play - we must always remember the power of play. To learn something, there is no substitute for play. We aim to instill (promote, foster, infuse, inspire, inject) a sense of play in everything.

Our objective is not result, but process; our programs are process-based, and process-driven. It matters not that participants do not present high level skills, but be mindfully present during the activities and commit to the experience. Our emphasis is on high sensitivity and low skills.

Even though we do not emphasize on end result, we offer performance opportunities for performance arts programs to showcase our participants’ progress and provide a platform for public sharing. We believe that it is in these public sharing that the participants’ efforts and growth will come full circle when they express themselves in a public setting to an audience, who receives and responds to that showing.

Our class sizes are small to ensure low teacher-participant ratio. We believe in personal attention and individual correction as each participant’s needs are different.
